Disciplinary Guide

Refund Policy

For digital documents downloaded immediately after payment
Version 1.0 · Effective 18 August 2026

The short version

Preview the document free before you pay. If something goes wrong on our side — you were charged twice, the document will not generate, or it is materially not what the product page described — tell us and we will fix it or refund you. We do not refund a correctly delivered document simply because you changed your mind after downloading it.

1. Preview before you buy

Every template can be previewed in full, watermarked, at no cost and without giving us anything. The preview is the complete document with your own details already merged into it. Use it. It exists so that nobody buys the wrong thing.

2. The cooling-off position

Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 gives a consumer a seven-day cooling-off right on certain electronic transactions. Section 42(2) excludes that right in respect of, among other things, digital products that have been unsealed or downloaded by the consumer.

Our position is therefore:

  1. Before you download — if you have paid but not yet downloaded the document, you may cancel and receive a full refund. Tell us within seven days.
  2. After you download — the document has been supplied and the cooling-off right no longer applies. We will still refund you in the circumstances in paragraph 3.
  3. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 that cannot lawfully be limited.

3. When we will refund you in full

  • You were charged more than once for the same order.
  • You paid but never received the document, and we cannot deliver it to you.
  • The document will not generate, or generates corrupted or incomplete.
  • The document is materially different from what the product page said it contained.
  • You paid for the wrong document and have not downloaded it.
  • The payment was not authorised by you.

4. When we will not refund you

  • You downloaded the document and then decided you did not need it.
  • You did not preview it, and it is not what you assumed.
  • The document did not produce the outcome you wanted in a disciplinary enquiry, at the CCMA, at a bargaining council or in court.
  • You completed the template incorrectly, or followed an unfair process.
  • You changed your mind about the price.

A template is a document, not an outcome. We cannot refund the result of a matter we had no part in.

5. How to claim

  1. E-mail legal@focuslegal.co.za with the subject “Refund request”.
  2. Include your order code (it looks like DG-XXXX-XXXXXX), the e-mail address used at checkout, and your Yoco receipt.
  3. Tell us what went wrong.

We acknowledge within one business day and decide within five business days. Approved refunds are processed through Yoco to the card used for the payment. Yoco’s own processing time then applies, typically a few business days.

6. If you are not satisfied with our decision

Escalate it to the director in writing at the same address. You retain any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, including the right to approach the National Consumer Commission or a consumer court.
